ACCESSIBILITY

MATRIX MUSIC wants every artist to be able to hear the catalogue, read the terms and buy a record — whatever device or assistive technology they use. We are working towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA, and we treat any barrier reported to us as a fault to be fixed.

Every play control carries a name a screen reader can announce, along with the beat it belongs to. Cover art carries alternative text. Headings run in order so a page can be navigated by structure. The whole site can be operated by keyboard: links, players, the cart and the checkout are reachable with Tab and activated with Enter or Space. Text colours are tested against their backgrounds to meet the contrast ratio the guidelines require. The decorative MATRIX mark is hidden from assistive technology so it is never read aloud as content.

We would rather name these than claim perfection. The waveform drawn beside each beat is decoration — it carries no information that is not also given as text, and it is not announced. Audio previews are music without speech, so no transcript is offered; where a record contains a reference vocal, the lyric is available on request. Some pages are dense on small screens and we are still improving how they reflow at large text sizes. The checkout is operated by Stripe and follows their accessibility work, not ours.
